So much for last ever blog... :P

Hi guys,&nbsp; So I thought I was done with my blogging - seeing as I'm on twitter (@icandyrose) now more than ever and everyone knows tweets are like micro-blogs. Or so I've been told. But it would seem some of you (you know who you are hehehe) won't just accept tweets as you want your "substantial interaction for your money, and not everyone is on facebook or twitter and want the blogs back". &nbsp;Apart from my shock at this amazing discovery that not everyone is on facebook or twitter, I was even more amazed to think I finally know who the one person that reads my blog is (joke guys). I'm in a funny mood so laughter all round, get your glasses out and top up. It's on the house - the laughter that is. Hehe.&nbsp;I love it when fans are quite funny... it's nice having fans in the first place ;)&gt;&nbsp;Okay what can I say, my apologies for not realising you actually liked the blog or even read it. Very few mention it. So it's back, but I can't promise you how often I will update it as I really don't know. So what's been going on since then?&nbsp;Well, I was supposed to perform at the Burnbake Festival the weekend of the 10th of June - but due to some miscommunication, that never happened. Disappointed yes, but not defeated as ironically on the 10th of June, I secured my own radio show, On Air with Candy Rose, with ON fm 101.4. A London based Radio station, and I use my show to promote other unsigned London and U.K based Artists. You can listen to the podcast of the show by visiting my website, www.icandyrose.com. On my Pilot show, I featured up and coming artist, Shem (@allaboutshem) and I'm currently running a competition with Niji Magazine, (http://nijimagazine.com/?p=9648 and @NijiMusic) for the artists who will get to come into the studio.&nbsp; On the 16th of June I performed at Chinawhite - which turned out to be my last gig of the year as I'm taking some time off gigging to relax, and work on other projects. Don't worry, it won't be forever, it's just a 6 months break from gigging. Unless you are some filthy rich so and so who wants to pay me a million for a private gig, in which case, I'm sure I can take a break from my break hehe.&nbsp; On June 18th I had a fab interview with the guys at WDKK Radio which you can check out here:&nbsp;http://www.wdkkradio.com/artist-interviews/candy-rose/&nbsp;and on the 21st of June I had a Live interview with Graeme of Leith FM (www.leithfm.co.uk), on the 22nd I got added to radio gets wild's playlist (www.radiogetswild.com), &nbsp;and on the 25th of June I got published in Music Week Magazine with my song Now I'm Gone - taken from my latest release, Hooked On You EP (released 1st May, 2011) featured in the Music Week Presents Volume 9 CD. I was supposed to have my last gig of the year at the Icarus club on the 30th, but a combination of ill health and strikes, made that impossible.&nbsp;July is shaping up to be a nice month. My song Hooked On You was included in the 117th episode of the Deuce Radio Show, which is broadcast on KWSS in the USA,&nbsp;Indie 104 which has over 150,000 daily listeners along with a large number of other FM, Digital and Internet stations around the world. You can check out the show here:&nbsp;http://deuceshow.podomatic.com/entry/2011-07-07T06_34_15-07_00.&nbsp;I recently had a great interview with Diana Broomfield of WDGP Radio on the 16th of July which you can listen to here:&nbsp;<a href="http://wdgpradio.com/2011/07/ms-candy-rose/" rel="nofollow" style="cursor: pointer; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">http://wdgpradio.com/2011/07/m?s-candy-rose/, I'm currently working on some remix and collab projects as well as cooking something up with Shelter - the charity everyone should know by now I support. Check out what they do here: www.shelter.org.uk&nbsp;I have also added some new videos to my youtube account as requested by my fans. So you can sing along too. Do visit, bookmark and share:&nbsp;www.youtube.com/icandyrosewww.facebook.com/icandyrosewww.twitter.com/icandyrosewww.icandyrose.comhttp://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133I think that just about covers it all to date. As always do sign up for the mailing list which you can do via my site www.icandyrose.com. I have a very special taster for the fans in this month's taster Thursday and it will only be available via email. It will NOT be on my page. Please continue to spread the word, buy the music, spread the word and recommend the music. And if you know any unsigned bands/singers/songwriters etc do ask them to check out the competition on Niji Magazine and enter.&nbsp;Love you all, now go buy some of my music ;)&gt; hehehe xxoxxo

Happy Blog Friday 2/11 xxo

Oh February, such a short month no wonder you fly by. So if you are new to my blog hello and welcome. Blog Fridays is a new practise, it will occur on the last Friday of the month and is a summary of what's happened in that month.&nbsp;<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wqk8LijtHf4/TWdrTJ-C2YI/AAAAAAAAAGA/9Bj0H-uq6sI/s1600/Cuban.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: justify;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aoosJwANAjM/TWdrUnjnWEI/AAAAAAAAAGE/i7WwORti_n4/s1600/28.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: justify;">Well I started February with a gig at the <a href="http://www.thecuban.co.uk/">Cuban Bar on the 2nd. Nice venue, an interesting mix of audience. I look forward to my next gig at the <a href="http://www.thecuban.co.uk/">Cuban bar on the 27 of April. I also had a gig at the <a href="http://www.zenithbar.co.uk/">Zenith Bar - wasn't thrilled with the sound guy or the glitches that occurred, but the crowd of students that came to support were awesome. As I have quite a few gigs scheduled at the <a href="http://www.zenithbar.co.uk/">Zenith Bar running through to June, I have been reassured that the sound issues on the night will not be a problem for future gigs as the usual sound guy, should be back by then - Thank God for that is an understatement. :) &nbsp;I have one more gig scheduled for the month of Feb. It's occurring on the 27th at <a href="http://www.bridgehouse2.com/">Bridgehouse 2 - a well known venue for Live performances. I am very much looking forward to that. Do come if you can. Details and to RSVP can be found by clicking <a href="http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=179118955465756">HERE.Oh and make sure when you come to the next gig, you pick up your Candy Rose gig rewards card and get it stamped. ;)&gt;<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RPZc9-bem5U/TWdr3CC2EMI/AAAAAAAAAGI/mJMNutRrHJE/s1600/Bridgehouse.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">As you all may know, I have been working on my next release and I posted an exclusive of the <a href="http://www.icandyrose.com/">Hooked On You Taster yesterday which only fans signed up to Fan mail may access. You can sign up and also listen/download on my <a href="http://www.icandyrose.com/">Website. I have yet to decide a date for the release but once I do, you will be the first to know. &nbsp;I may have also found my band - no premature announcements to be made, but once all is definitely confirmed, keep your eyes on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/icandyrose">my facebook page and <a href="http://www.twitter.com/icandyrose">my tweets to be informed in real time. But it is a very exciting period. Also if you haven't done so yet, do check out the epic video to <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hooked-You-Monster-Club-Mix/dp/B0040BGBBC">Hooked On You (Monster Club Mix) on my <a href="http://www.youtube.com/icandyrose">Youtube Channel - excellent work by the super talenetd <a href="http://www.twitter.com/bluntspear">Dulani Wilson of <a href="http://www.bluntspear.co.uk/">Bluntspear Animation.&nbsp;Another thing you may notice in the coming months is less of me - I know you don't see enough of me as it is, but taking a leaf in the vein of the talented <a href="http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1439817">Duffy who is rumoured to be quitting the industry (very tough and very fickle industry lol), I will be spending less time on the music scene and more on my family. I will still be creating Music, but I have achieved the main thing I set out to achieve when I started - A Publishing deal. Huzzah. Fame was never on my agenda, I think of the fame thing as an occupational hazard and a necessary evil required in doing this job. I love <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133">Music, I will always be involved with music. So don't despair hehe. I know some of you prefer to send me questions via email, but I have also included a forum on <a href="http://www.icandyrose.com/">my website where you can chinwag about the music or ask questions etc. So do check it out.On a completely different note, this is what I've been listening to since it came out yesterday:&nbsp;<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yxNjpo3yKAI/TWdq099j7UI/AAAAAAAAAF8/q3WkPptZjcY/s1600/patrick_stump_-_truant_wave_ep_20110216_1075247180.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="http://www.patrickstump.com/">Patrick Stump is a musical genius and the coolest, most awesome guy I sort of know. So inspiring yet so humble. So make sure you support by checking out his latest release, the&nbsp;<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/truant-wave-ep/id420537573">EP Truant Wave. Spotlight is such a Choon.&nbsp; And don't forget to read the fan mail and help me with my favour ;).&nbsp;Thank you all for the love and support. If you know anyone you think would enjoy my music, just send them to:&nbsp;<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133" style="font-weight: bold;">iTunes&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Candy-Rose/dp/B002I4SF7Q" style="font-weight: bold;">amazon&nbsp;to begin with.&nbsp;Love you guys and keep you posted as always.&nbsp;Candy xxoxxo

Nice venue, an interesting mix of audience. I look forward to my next gig at the Cuban bar on the 27 of April. I also had a gig at the Zenith Bar - wasn't thrilled with the sound guy or the glitches that occurred, but the crowd of students that came to support were awesome. As I have quite a few gigs scheduled at the Zenith Bar running through to June, I have been reassured that the sound issues on the night will not be a problem for future gigs as the usual sound guy, should be back by then - Thank God for that is an understatement. :) I have one more gig scheduled for the month of Feb. It's occurring on the 27th at Bridgehouse 2 - a well known venue for Live performances. I am very much looking forward to that. Do come if you can. Details and to RSVP can be found by clicking HERE.

Oh and make sure when you come to the next gig, you pick up your Candy Rose gig rewards card and get it stamped. ;)>

As you all may know, I have been working on my next release and I posted an exclusive of the Hooked On You Taster yesterday which only fans signed up to Fan mail may access. You can sign up and also listen/download on my Website. I have yet to decide a date for the release but once I do, you will be the first to know. I may have also found my band - no premature announcements to be made, but once all is definitely confirmed, keep your eyes on my facebook page and my tweets to be informed in real time. But it is a very exciting period. Also if you haven't done so yet, do check out the epic video to Hooked On You (Monster Club Mix) on my Youtube Channel - excellent work by the super talenetd Dulani Wilson of Bluntspear Animation.

Another thing you may notice in the coming months is less of me - I know you don't see enough of me as it is, but taking a leaf in the vein of the talented Duffy who is rumoured to be quitting the industry (very tough and very fickle industry lol), I will be spending less time on the music scene and more on my family. I will still be creating Music, but I have achieved the main thing I set out to achieve when I started - A Publishing deal. Huzzah. Fame was never on my agenda, I think of the fame thing as an occupational hazard and a necessary evil required in doing this job. I love Music, I will always be involved with music. So don't despair hehe. I know some of you prefer to send me questions via email, but I have also included a forum on my website where you can chinwag about the music or ask questions etc. So do check it out.

On a completely different note, this is what I've been listening to since it came out yesterday:

Patrick Stump is a musical genius and the coolest, most awesome guy I sort of know.
Blog Friday is here! - 1/11

So I recently (as in Yesterday via fan mail) decided I would start doing a Blog Friday. It will be on the last Friday of every month. This way I would have no choice but to write something every month as I do neglect my blog somewhat. What better way than to do a recap of what's gone on during the month.&nbsp;So here's what's happened thus far:I started the year with some radical new changes to my look. Part of my New Year's Resolution which was to cut my lovely lock into a little more fierce and edgy. I also thought it would look great in the photo-shoot I had scheduled with the sensational Music Photographer, <a href="http://www.andyfallon.co.uk/">Andy Fallon. Now I'm the kinda girl that knows what she wants and goes and gets it. I was absolutely intent on having the blue streaks in my hair for 2011. So here's what happened...&nbsp;This is me 2010 (Fierce and Fab Picture taken by my very good friend and super talented <a href="http://www.papabearphotography.com/">Ben Warren, whom I look forward to working with again)<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TULAy2lX03I/AAAAAAAAAFo/K8UHrnMqc94/s1600/CR+twitter.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">To this - No I did not scream or pass out - although the lady was certain I was going to do something as she kept asking "Are you Sure? There's no going back once it's done and you have such lovely hair" Of course I have lovely hair I got it from my mama. So I'm not worried about it's regrowth. :) So we cut my lovely lock and there they are in snippets all over the salon floor.&nbsp;<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TULCILsj_xI/AAAAAAAAAFs/jAlVAZsCMpA/s1600/IMG_0193.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">To this - Picture taken by&nbsp;sensational Music Photographer,&nbsp;<a href="http://www.andyfallon.co.uk/">Andy Fallon. I think I'm totally rocking my blue hair. And Thank you to those of you that made some good noise about both my new looks and the pics. I really really enjoyed the photo shoot with&nbsp;<a href="http://www.andyfallon.co.uk/">Andy Fallon. My make up at this shoot was done by <a href="http://www.emilyrosemakeupartist.co.uk/">Emily Rose. &nbsp;More pictures from the shoot can be seen on my <a href="http://www.icandyrose.com/">website&nbsp;in the images... section. Through my Taster Thursday fan mail, I will share pics not on my website with my fans who have chosen to share their email addresses with me as my way of saying thank. Feel free to sign up for the mailing list via my&nbsp;<a href="http://www.icandyrose.com/">website.&nbsp;<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TULDHlGzHAI/AAAAAAAAAFw/jhYE7_4aZcU/s1600/Profile+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">&nbsp;Hello 2011. :)&gt; Grrrowl heheheAs some of you may be aware, I have been working on my next release, which coincidentally will be my last release from<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/a-rollercoaster-love/id329952820"> A Rollercoaster Love. Rated 4.5 Stars on iTunes... It must be good huh! So here's an exclusive for you, something I have yet to do anywhere else is post a video of me in action. So I was in the <a href="http://www.blueprostudios.com/">Studio with Gandalf (<a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/goodbye_delete/156815217162?v=wall">John Webber) and he thought he'd do a Scorcese with my iphone. This is me working on the song my fan-mail fans got to hear exclusively yesterday; Now I'm Gone - RnB Version.&nbsp;I am still somewhat camera shy, but I think I'm improving. Hoping when I do finally get round to shooting my first real vid, that it blows your mind. Make it Epic and memorable. In the mean time Enjoy!&nbsp;If you're wondering why this is not on my <a href="http://www.youtube.com/icandyrose">youtube channel instead, it's because I believe that only my REAL fans will take the time to come read my blog. So they should be the ones to see me. Sorry the quality is not great, but it was filmed on a phone after all :)&gt;<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TULDknX9msI/AAAAAAAAAF0/e27pNE4MlxM/s1600/IMG_0211.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">and yeah, I was trying hard not to laugh out loud.The other thing I had on my list I wanted to do this year was to book more gigs. I am pleased to announce that I am now booked for gigs all the way through to June - Chuffed. Very Chuffed!&nbsp;It would be so awesome if you guys can come to some or all of them. I have one coming up on the 2nd of February at <a href="http://www.thecuban.co.uk/">The Cuban Bar. More details of this upcoming gig can be found on my <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.icandyrose.com">website. I kicked off my gigging this year as supporting act to the fab <a href="http://www.myspace.com/victoriaaitken">Victoria Aitken at the legendary Half Moon in Putney, and the next day I had a really good gig at <a href="http://icarusclub.blogspot.com/2011/01/review-20th-january-2011-rich.html">The Icarus Club. I look forward my next gig at&nbsp;<a href="http://icarusclub.blogspot.com/2011/01/review-20th-january-2011-rich.html">The Icarus Club&nbsp;in April.&nbsp;What else happened this month...&nbsp;I finally activated my Ping and uStream accounts.... feel free to follow both. Not sure when the uStream will become actively used, or the ping for that matter, but as always, keep you posted via my <a href="http://www.icandyrose.com/">website and fan mail.&nbsp;There is still one thing on my list I have yet to achieve, which is my band. I held an open audition on the 23rd and did not find the talent I sought... I will be posting another audition date soon. If you know anyone, I'm open to suggestions. Just need guys for my gigs mostly. Do keep your eyes on my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/icandyrose">Facebook and my <a href="http://www.twitter.com/icandyrose">tweets. And speaking of&nbsp;<a href="http://www.twitter.com/icandyrose">tweets, you could not ruin this month for me even if you tried, in fact wondering if anything will top the fact that <a href="http://twitter.com/patrickstump">P.S started following my tweets. Yeah it was definitely a fan-girl moment.... for someone I admire so much to acknowledge my existence... even if it was just a click... dreams do come true :-)&gt;Thank you all for the love and support. If you know anyone you think would enjoy my music, just send them to:&nbsp;<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133">iTunes or <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Candy-Rose/dp/B002I4SF7Q">amazon to begin with.&nbsp;Love you guys and keep you posted as always.&nbsp;Candy xxoxxoP.S&nbsp;Don't forget that 50% of every sale of my song London, from now until eternity, goes to the Charity for Homeless, <a href="http://england.shelter.org.uk/">Shelter. Keep spreading the word so that I may yet make a difference in someone's life through my music. I hope to one day send them a cheque with a at least 3 zeroes. :)&gt;&nbsp;Thank you.&nbsp;

2010 - I Salute You!

Wow! What a difference a year makes. Yes it's only November and not quite the end of the year - but as I will not be releasing any new material within the next month, nor will I be performing any more shows, figured it's time to stop and take stock. It's been an amazing year. So much has happened since I started my blog, which used to be aptly titled, "A Reclusive Indie Artist...?" - but I'm not so reclusive anymore and I believe I am finally becoming the Artist I was destined to be. Brace yourself for more witnessing of the metamorphosis that is yet to be seen. I suspect 2011 has quite a lot in store for me... and I like that.So what exactly happened in 2010 apart from gigging every month?January I wrote most of my second albumFebruary I released my third single, &nbsp;<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133">It's You That I Love, taken from my debut album, <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133">A Rollercoaster Love. &nbsp;<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TO02KWYvbeI/AAAAAAAAAFU/UGIwxXdQxVo/s1600/It%2527s+You+That+I+Love+cover+300+x+300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">In March, I was featured in 10 Superdrug stores across the U.K - including Birmingham Bullring; and also featured in Vox Africa's London Fashion Week Edition of <a href="http://www.voxafrica.co.uk/afrobuzz">AfrobuzzIn April had a live Radio Interview with the fab guys at<a href="http://www.gravityfm.net/"> Gravity FM - Nev Eaglen &amp; John SmithIn May I presented my face to the world for the first time, thanks to the fabulous Ben Warren of <a href="http://www.papabearphotography.com/">Papa Bear Photography&nbsp;; uploaded the music video for It's You That I love to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/icandyrose">my youtube channel&nbsp;- the video was done by the talented Dulani Wilson of <a href="http://www.bluntspear.co.uk/">Bluntspear Animation. I also performed my first live gig since releasing my album, at The Comedy Pub.In June I had my first ever TV interview with Vox Africa's James Sherwood at my gig on the Battersea Barge; and I was later to find out that it was shown internationally on the Afrobuzz show. Great guys and interview and a very good experience. Also in June got featured in the Artist Spotlight section of <a href="http://www.broadjam.com/">broadjam.com 's newsletter. A very proud moment for me.In July I performed at the Buffalo Bar and recorded my single <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133">"London"at <a href="http://www.turtlestudios.co.uk/">Turtle Studios with the super talented <a href="http://www.turtlestudios.co.uk/">Peter Turtle - he plays guitar like he was possessed :)&gt; Brilliant.<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TO1M9baLLuI/AAAAAAAAAFY/g6maHzzyrsc/s1600/candy_rose_london_broadjam.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;">In August I found out that I had won an award as a finalist on the 6th International Acoustic Music Awards for my song, Tell The World. I was so happy - I still am. To be recognised internationally for my lyrics, my song, my work meant and still means so very much to me. I also released <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/candy-rose/id324495133">"London" in August and decided to use it to raise money for the homeless at the same time. Being homeless is not a joke and I am speaking from experience. I was not as unfortunate as some of the homeless out there who have no friends or family to turn to, but it was a very scary point in my life. The dreadful feeling of not knowing what's going to happen tomorrow. To have the security of "home", "Roof over my head" taken away - very trying time in my life. I always wanted to do something about that in the future, and now thanks to <a href="http://www.shelter.org.uk/">Shelter and music, I just might be able to. &nbsp;I have bequeathed 50% of all sales of my song London, &nbsp;from the date of release until eternity to <a href="http://www.shelter.org.uk/">Shelter&nbsp;- the charity for the homeless and housing in the U.K. So every time you or a friend bought this song, <a href="http://www.shelter.org.uk/">Shelter gets 50% of whatever you paid for it. So do spread the word and pay it forward. In September I got featured in <a href="http://www.nijimagazine.com/">Niji Magazine who came to what was supposed to be my last U.K gig of 2010 at <a href="http://www.thefiddlerselbow.co.uk/">Fiddlers elbow.&nbsp;Great guys!In October I prepared for Miami Music Festival and caught up with my much neglected friends.November &nbsp;was all about Miami Music Festival :)&gt;<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TO1RtgGceTI/AAAAAAAAAFg/bWlJ1bQ7VGw/s1600/Yuca.Fri.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TO1RnvlkRCI/AAAAAAAAAFc/SrupcRpcIZI/s1600/MMF_250+x+250.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">I performed at two venues for the <a href="http://www.miamimusicfestival.org/">Miami Music Festival, Yuca was the first one and Vinly &amp; Kai the second. I met some and hit it off with some really cool Musicians, <a href="http://www.reverbnation.com/tynedarling">Tyne Darling, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/alicialemke">Alicia Lemke, <a href="http://www.MariaZouroudis.com/">Maria Zouroudis &amp; <a href="http://www.reverbnation.com/paulbaker">Paul Baker. You should check them all out and show them some love/support/like. I really missed Ben Warren of Papa Bear photography on this trip as he would have captured all the high lights and what-nots perfectly. Guess next year I better blag him a ticket hehehe. I also attended the conference for Emerging Artists whilst there and found myself coming home with home work. So much about the work I do, I did not know but needed to know and so glad I had someone to tell me. So grateful to the guys at <a href="http://www.miamimusicfestival.org/">Miami Music Festival for selecting me in the first place to be part of it. So humbled by it all.I returned home to London, and performed at what was my REAL last gig of 2010, opening for the fabulous <a href="http://www.myspace.com/hilsgranger">Hils Granger at <a href="http://www.thebowerylondon.co.uk/">The Bowery. Brilliant night and what a brilliant band. I had a lot of fun and as always enjoyed performing my song London in London. &nbsp;even bigger need of support than usual.I also put A Rollercoaster Love, and Meet You In The Club on SALE on <a href="http://www.cdbaby.com/Sale">CD baby in the $5.00 CD sales as I want as many of you to be able to get it. Especially as I hope that by the time I release my next album and at my next gigs, you will know the words. What next before the end of the year? Well I am informed I am to be featured in Urban Mainstream Magazine - will let you know whenever that happens. I also have a photo shoot scheduled with the super music photographer, <a href="http://www.andyfallon.co.uk/">Andy Fallon - again, will keep you posted. In December, I spend extra special time with my kids, my family and my friends and avoid working as much as possible. So if I go quiet next month, that's why.To finish, as always, I want to Thank every single one of you that has directly or indirectly played a role in this incredible journey. &nbsp;I have been constantly humbled by your support and love and the lengths to which some of you have gone to get me heard. I appreciate every single one of you and every little gesture and your words of kindness and encouragement. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart. Please continue to spread the words about my music, please continue to call up/text the radio stations with requests for my music, and please continue to say no to piracy I would like to continue creating and spreading Music. And as always will continue to try to change the world one act at a time through my music and with your help. Tell the world about the single London :)&gt;God bless you all and if I should forget to say this later, Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year to you all.Lots of Love,Candyxxoxxo

I suspect 2011 has quite a lot in store for me... and I like that.

So what exactly happened in 2010 apart from gigging every month?

January I wrote most of my second album

February I released my third single, It's You That I Love, taken from my debut album, A Rollercoaster Love.

In March, I was featured in 10 Superdrug stores across the U.K - including Birmingham Bullring; and also featured in Vox Africa's London Fashion Week Edition of Afrobuzz

In April had a live Radio Interview with the fab guys at Gravity FM - Nev Eaglen & John Smith

In May I presented my face to the world for the first time, thanks to the fabulous Ben Warren of Papa Bear Photography ; uploaded the music video for It's You That I love to my youtube channel - the video was done by the talented Dulani Wilson of Bluntspear Animation. I also performed my first live gig since releasing my album, at The Comedy Pub.

In June I had my first ever TV interview with Vox Africa's James Sherwood at my gig on the Battersea Barge; and I was later to find out that it was shown internationally on the Afrobuzz show. Great guys and interview and a very good experience. Also in June got featured in the Artist Spotlight section of broadjam.com 's newsletter. A very proud moment for me.

In July I performed at the Buffalo Bar and recorded my single "London"at Turtle Studios with the super talented Peter Turtle - he plays guitar like he was possessed :)> Brilliant.

In August I found out that I had won an award as a finalist on the 6th International Acoustic Music Awards for my song, Tell The World. I was so happy - I still am. To be recognised internationally for my lyrics, my song, my work meant and still means so very much to me. I also released "London" in August and decided to use it to raise money for the homeless at the same time. I always wanted to do something about that in the future, and now thanks to Shelter and music, I just might be able to. I have bequeathed 50% of all sales of my song London, from the date of release until eternity to Shelter - the charity for the homeless and housing in the U.K. So every time you or a friend bought this song, Shelter gets 50% of whatever you paid for it. So do spread the word and pay it forward.

In September I got featured in Niji Magazine who came to what was supposed to be my last U.K gig of 2010 at Fiddlers elbow. Great guys!

In October I prepared for Miami Music Festival and caught up with my much neglected friends.

November was all about Miami Music Festival :)>

I performed at two venues for the Miami Music Festival, Yuca was the first one and Vinly & Kai the second. I met some and hit it off with some really cool Musicians, Tyne Darling, Alicia Lemke, Maria Zouroudis & Paul Baker. So grateful to the guys at Miami Music Festival for selecting me in the first place to be part of it. So humbled by it all.

I returned home to London, and performed at what was my REAL last gig of 2010, opening for the fabulous Hils Granger at The Bowery. Brilliant night and what a brilliant band. I had a lot of fun and as always enjoyed performing my song London in London. even bigger need of support than usual.

I also put A Rollercoaster Love, and Meet You In The Club on SALE on CD baby in the $5.00 CD sales as I want as many of you to be able to get it. Especially as I hope that by the time I release my next album and at my next gigs, you will know the words.

What next before the end of the year? Well I am informed I am to be featured in Urban Mainstream Magazine - will let you know whenever that happens. I also have a photo shoot scheduled with the super music photographer, Andy Fallon - again, will keep you posted. In December, I spend extra special time with my kids, my family and my friends and avoid working as much as possible. So if I go quiet next month, that's why.

To finish, as always, I want to Thank every single one of you that has directly or indirectly played a role in this incredible journey. I have been constantly humbled by your support and love and the lengths to which some of you have gone to get me heard. Tell the world about the single London :)>

God bless you all and if I should forget to say this later, Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year to you all.

Lots of Love,
Candy
xxoxxo

Making the Groov-a-licious Mix on Indie Soup Runner

So one of my tracks made it onto the fab IndieSoup Runner's Mix. Do go and check it out please. It's the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.indiesouprunner.com/">Groov-a-licious mix.&nbsp; The title alone, puts a smile on my face. :)This is great as I must admit - at the risk of seeming narcissistic - that I actually listen to my album, Meet You In The Club, when working out. So to be featured on the groov-a-licious mix is pretty special. Do check it out and as always, I thank you all for your continued support.P.SDon't forget, my new single London, is out on the 10th of August. Get yours from i-Tunes, amazon, rhapsody and all the usual retailers.xxoxxo

Review of Meet You In The Club by Michael Morgan

AGAIN PEOPLE! Please pay attention :-)&gt; xxoxxo<!--StartFragment--> Album Title:<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"> Meet You In The ClubArtist: Candy RoseReviewer's Name: Michael MorganRating: 4 out of 5 starsReview Summary: Dance gems abound on this quick shot disc of 7 club tracks from budding British artist Candy Rose.&nbsp; After listening to Candy Rose's <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Meet You In The Club for the first time, there will never be a last. It's that hot.<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"> Review:Dance gem remixes abound on this quick shot disc of 7 club tracks from budding British artist, Candy Rose.&nbsp; After listening to Candy Rose's <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Meet You In The Club for the first time, there will never be a last.&nbsp; It's that hot. The first 3 tracks are a trifecta of dance music body blows. The race car rhythm and airy chorus of "Hooked on You" is an energetic start to the record while the bullet-like back-beat and synth frenzy of "Just So You Know" rockets in from outer space. The third track, "You Are Everything," the strongest song on the album, has so much infectious rhythm in it that if indie electro-dance DJs knew about this Latin dance slap in the face, they would be begging to remix it. The songstress explores Latin flavors of meringue pianos on the grinder "You Are Everything" and composes a dance party with sonic urgency on "Stop Talking." The latter song brings with it a girl-power force that echoes early No Doubt à la "Don't Speak," or Janet Jackson's "Nasty Boys."&nbsp; Even though Ms. Rose tends to experiment with different dance rhythms on songs like "It's You That I Love," she doesn't veer far from the core pop hooks that make the songs so appealing.&nbsp; But don't be mislead that she would appeal solely to the commercial masses; deeper listening reveals more. Although the majority of tracks are in the same vein as commercial pop and dance radio, there are undercurrents of progressive dance in a couple of the songs. "Now I'm Gone" possesses a Middle Eastern sound that eventually peaks into a trance-like crescendo.&nbsp; It's songs like these that fall outside the terrestrial radio realm.&nbsp; This is the area where Ms. Rose can break the mainstream dance club mold, much the same way Santigold has done in the hip-hop world.&nbsp; If Candy can push the edges the same way she does on tracks like "You Are Everything" and "Now I'm Gone," her music will carry with it not only commercial appeal, but brand new audiences. <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Meet You In The Club is one of those albums that can be played straight through a gym workout or long car drive to somewhere far and intriguing. One part dance party queen, and another progressive dance club vixen, Ms. Rose has the pop goods and dance music chops to break through both commercial and indie underground success.&nbsp; Fans of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera should buy this record now.
Review of A Rollercoaster Love by Zack "the Mothman" Daggy

<!--StartFragment--> PEOPLE! Pay attention Please :-)&gt; xxoxxoAlbum Title: <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">A Rollercoaster LoveArtist: Candy RoseReviewers Name: Zack DaggyRating:&nbsp; 4 out of 5 starsTitle of Review: Queen of Hooks (That would be ME he's talking about)Review: Candy Rose knows how to draw you in. She knows how to create a beat that moves the heart and a rhythm that frees the soul. Her album <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">A Rollercoaster Love will grab a hold of you and take you on a ride that you will never forget.Tracks"Stop Talking" With this track listeners are introduced to Candy Rose's downright catchy deep base vibes. This is the type of electronica infused club mix that you would expect off of Madonna's next album; incredibly well produced and Candy sounds like she's a seasoned veteran that has been at this for years. It's not just her voice that sells it.&nbsp; It's her attitude. Certain artist simply radiate with attitude, and Candy Rose is one of those artists."It's You That I Love" This track takes your typical candy-pop sound and infuses it with R&amp;B. The result is a soulful twist on what could have been a cookie-cutter song. At times the chorus is a bit too repetitive, but the techno influenced highlights make up for it."So You Know" A simple pop/R&amp;B track with a deep bass mixed with an orchestral melody. It's not quite as catchy as the other tracks on this album, but it showcases Candy's rich melodic voice better than the others."Just Say You Love Me" definitely the premier ballad of <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">A Rollercoaster Love. It's a song that initially doesn't seem like much, but grows on you over time. Candy may be more in her groove with faster pop tracks, but there is no denying the power that resonates from her voice in slower tracks such as this. Her voice is simply mesmerizing."I Just Miss You" Absolute whimsical pop. It's a slow easygoing track that's easy to get lost to. The music is impressive with its mellow yet exciting vibe, and again it's Candy's voice that makes this song smooth, sweet, and soulful beyond words. It should also be noted that this song (and pretty much every song off of this album) is extraordinarily well produced.&nbsp; It has that well polished sound that you typically find on Grammy-winning albums."Patrick Stump" - This track takes on more of a pop/rock sound. It works for the most part, but the music has room to grow, as it seems outside of its comfort zone like a kitten trying to act like a tiger. "Take Me As I Am" - Candy again explores the pop/rock genre with this track. The music is an improvement from "Patrick Stump," but it still doesn't come off sounding natural. It's a pity because vocally and stylistically Candy nails it. With a few tweaks to music to give it a near Moby vibe this track could potentially storm the airwaves and climb the charts."Hooked On You" This tracks title says it all. It hooks on you. Candy Rose is the queen of hooks. With this and every track off of this album she seems to hold the uncanny ability to create rifts, rhythms, and beats that hook onto you and never let go. This is a pop song that brings to meaning to catchy. It has deep rhythmic bass vibes just screaming for the clubs and pop hooks (pardon the pun) that demand that this song be elevated to single status... Now!"You Are Everything" - It's songs like this that Candy seems at most in her element. This track isn't her best, but still it has a simple sublime quality that makes it work."Tell The World" - Acoustic elements mixed with a deep base is a risky stylistic bled, but this track pulls it off beautifully. The smooth dream-like quality of Candy's voice pulls it together and makes it work. It's no secret that Candy credits the king of pop Michael Jackson as one of her main influences, and while her voice doesn't really sound like his, something stylistically about it is definitively MJ."Now I'm Gone" Big surprise here, but this song is damn catchy. It's not complicated. It simply delivers pop driven hooks with a hint of a hip-hop vibe. The VerdictCandy Rose is the queen of hooks. Her songs are incredibly catchy and her voice has the attitude and soul of a pop legend. Whether it's the clubs, the airwaves, or your iPod, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">A Rollercoaster Love is guaranteed to take to you on a ride.Review by Zack Daggy&nbsp;<!--EndFragment-->

Number 2 and Number 1

Okay, you might be wondering why number 2 and number 1 of the 10 things article are together. This is because there's no way of telling number 2 without number 1 coming up. So here goes.&nbsp;Number 2: Body Hang-ups.&nbsp;I'm not skinny! Never have been. Smallest size I've ever been as an adult was a 12 on top and a 14 bottom - thanks to the junk in my trunk. Yes the good Lord was a bit generous with my behind for which I am quite grateful :)&nbsp;Anyway, over the years my weight has upped and yo-yos and whatever. Choosing to go into an industry where image is sometimes more than half the work - being my size was about the only thing daunting about following my dreams. I know the world is superficial - even more so in the media. But I decided to just be as healthy as I could be and not think about it.&nbsp;I'm a size 16 World, so just Deal with it cos I aint going nowhere! Considering that at my biggest I was a size 26/28 I'm pretty proud of myself to be a size 16. Only people who have battled with their weight would really understand what a huge deal this is to me - accomplished without dieting as I don't know how to diet and never have. And even prouder still because only February this year, I was a size 20. Getting down to a size 16 from a 26/28 did not happen overnight, did not happen in a year. In fact it took approximately 6 years with one more pregnancy in between and a complete change in lilfestyle.&nbsp;YES! NUMBER 1 - I'm a mum. &nbsp;Super-mummy according to my kids and I'll accept that ;)Let me explain how it all happened really. So I used to be a 12/14 - never dieted as I did not know how, but I worked out 6 days a week out of habit. I've always had what I call chunky thighs - I put it down to my sprinting days and some chunky thigh genes in my family. But when you work out 6 days a week, you also don't really think about how much you eat as you burn it off without a thought. I was happy with my body so never really thought about it. Also I only had mostly healthy stuff, lots of seafood, fish etc. It was my lifestyle and it worked for me. If I pigged out with my best friend on a Saturday at some eatery, we would do an extra hour at the gym the next day. &nbsp;Keeping the balance.&nbsp; But then I got pregnant. And this was when it all went pear shaped really. For 8 months out of the 9 months term, I was sick. For the first 6 months was mostly bed ridden due to being sick -I was told this all meant the baby was healthy, but being practically bed ridden and exhausted, I did not exercise even once during that pregnancy and I had cravings for all the wrong things. I was not surprised I got so big. I thought okay once I have my baby - we're hitting the gym.&nbsp;Funny thing about babies... you've got to take them everywhere with you. You've got to factor them into everything you're planning. &nbsp; And the worst part was where we lived at the time, had no gyms with Creche facilities and I was really embarrassed about the way I looked that I would wake up really early in the morning and do some exercise - was the only time and I believe, if you want something - you gotta make it happen as no one's going to do it for you or even give it to you. Not even if they had whatever it was spare to give.&nbsp;Around this period, there were all these new diets people were raving about. So I started to try them out. Atkins Diet - Rule number one about Atkins Diet, don't do it if you're breast-feeding. I got sick and baby got sick due to lack of required nutrients. Immune system severely compromised. Me feeling like WOrst mum on planet for endangering my baby for my looks. Terrible time. Next day I put the book in the trash. &nbsp;Tried the You are what you eat thing that was all the rage at the time, and thought afterwards, it works because the food looks like crap and tastes like crap and hence you lose your appetite and voila goal achieved. But that was not a viable option either for me.&nbsp;I could go on about all the ups and downs - mostly downs but my salvation I believe was the Lotte Berk vhs tapes - Can you believe it was not so long ago we all watched videos??? I do believe that muscle eats fat. Simple but true. When I decided to embrace the techno chick in me and go all digital with dvds, a Lotte Berk set was the first dvd I bought. 30 minutes some are just 20 minutes and in a week I started to see results. I would definitely recommend this if you want to be toned whilst losing weight not just dieting. within 3 months of doing this I dropped to a size 22. Within a year I was an 18. and you know what, I was fine with this.&nbsp;I fluctuated between 18 and 20 for a while and then I got pregnant again. And I told myself not to repeat any of my previous mistakes. After this pregnancy I went up to a 24 but I found my new salvation in Virgin Active that, would you believe it, had creche facilities. Why ALL gyms don't have this, I really really don't know. Baby was about 7 months old when I joined so was okay to stay in creche. Knowing that if anything went wrong I'd be just upstairs made me feel so much better. I went to the gym 5 days a week. I can be disciplined about certain things. Gym yes. Diet No. It's just the way I am. And this paid off as the weight did come off and I got back to an 18.&nbsp;I guess getting down to a 16 can be attributed to being a mum, trying to achieve my dreams and balancing life. It's just been so busy. So if you were wondering why I'm not a stick insect, now you know why. Or why you will never see any pictures of me in skimpy revealing clothing for the sake of the music - I have a daughter, I'm living by example and also - that's just not me. I may be getting more toned, but I also think you should leave something to the imagination. A little mystery never hurt no one.&nbsp; This also explains why you don't see a gazillion tweets from me, I'm usually busy doing my first job as mum and why I was so fiercely protective of my privacy when I first started - I was just being a mum and protecting mine. You know how it is.So that's it. Number 2 and number 1. Feel free to tweet me questions and I will try to respond today.&nbsp;Thank you all so very much for your support on this incredible journey and if you are having body issues yourself, I hope this particular entry helps. And don't worry you'll get there. It's hard, but you will. And do remember, we're not all meant to be size 10 and below. I think my bones alone are a size 10 :)&nbsp;Much Love,&nbsp;Candy xxoxxo

Within a year I was an 18. and you know what, I was fine with this.

I fluctuated between 18 and 20 for a while and then I got pregnant again. And this paid off as the weight did come off and I got back to an 18.

I guess getting down to a 16 can be attributed to being a mum, trying to achieve my dreams and balancing life. A little mystery never hurt no one.

This also explains why you don't see a gazillion tweets from me, I'm usually busy doing my first job as mum and why I was so fiercely protective of my privacy when I first started - I was just being a mum and protecting mine. You know how it is.

So that's it. Number 2 and number 1. Feel free to tweet me questions and I will try to respond today.

Thank you all so very much for your support on this incredible journey and if you are having body issues yourself, I hope this particular entry helps. And don't worry you'll get there. It's hard, but you will. And do remember, we're not all meant to be size 10 and below. I think my bones alone are a size 10 :)

Much Love,

Candy xxoxxo

Number 4 - Travel

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/TEWKe1MomSI/AAAAAAAAABw/iHIHZCzc3HE/s1600/2008-+Miami+Trip+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">I wish I travelled more..., actually scrap that. I wish that I could afford to travel more. There's so much "World" out there, yet explored, yet undiscovered and oh so yet unseen by yours truly. I suspect some &nbsp;Nomadic relatives somewhere in the ancestry chart - if only one knew how to accurately navigate these things. But I really would love to travel more and see the world. I am lucky to a certain degree to have relatives in every Continent that I am able to visit and see those parts of the world. However I do have one destination that I love, that shows me love and helps me heal and reboot. For me that destination is Miami. The image you see is the view from my room on one evening, during a trip there. I think of Miami as my Mecca - one to which I must return to every year. Everyone needs a place they can go to and just chill, and think, and be inspired and be refreshed. Miami does that for me. Don't get me wrong I love London, but I live here. And I know that if I should up and leave and go live in Miami, it would lose it's healing power, because then I'd have a find a new Mecca. Why Miami? Sunshine, very friendly hot gorgeous people, fantastic shopping, very friendly hot gorgeous people, hmmm the Beach, oh and did I mention the very friendly HOT gorgeous people?&nbsp;Miami shows me love, so if anyone from Miami is reading this, I want you to know that I love you guys too. I wrote most of my album, A Rollercoster Love whilst in Miami, and I've written most of the songs that will be on my second album, during my last trip to Miami. Whenever possible I like to have a view from my room. It's all the water, I find it very calming,&nbsp;therapeutic and inspiring. Maybe it has something to do with my star sign as a water bearer. Maybe something about the ocean/sea allows my creativity to get to the next level. Whatever it is, it works for me.I definitely would like to travel more. I'm hoping my career will allow me to do this, perhaps a world tour one day. I do want to learn to do a lot of things, and experience new places and cultures and tastes and smells etc. But I guess for now, I'll settle for what I know and love... unless you have a few spare tickets to... India? New Zealand? Mordor? lolWell, wherever you're going, make sure you have the right insurance and have read up on local laws. Better prepared, and safe than to be sorry.xxoxxo

Number 5 - Type of Books that I read...

Lately I find I don't seem to have as much time as I used to have for reading. I actually quite enjoy reading. People ask me what type of books I read. Well, I know there are certain genres of books that I like - and will probably deny reading - Paranormal Romance for example lol - but there are some books that I do read openly and I actually quite enjoy.&nbsp;A few months ago, I read John McCaslin's Weed Man. It was quite enjoyable and funny in parts. I guess I would recommend it, but I think it's more a guy read, than gals. There were definitely parts that I thought were very "blokey".I love Science fiction - but only if it's done right. And anyone who reads Sci-fi knows what I mean. There are some books that are just too out there with the story lines. I like Science fiction that when you read it, you can actually see the potential in it's storyline being reality one day. Twenty years ago tiny little devices used for keeping in touch were a pipe dream - but the potential in science was there to make it real. But sometimes, if it's obvious from the get go that it's pure fantasy, a book with really out there story lines can actually be quite good. The last Science Fiction Book I read was &nbsp; The Hickory Staff: The Eldarn sequence book 1 by Robert Scott and Jay Gordon. I quite enjoyed it so I bought the next one, Lessek's Key: The Eldarn Sequence book 2. Unfortunately this has been sitting on my to read pile with some other books. I like it when a book carries on with another book etc. I will get round to reading it one day... perhaps when I finally take a break.&nbsp;I love Graphic Novels. I will only read them through recommendation. I must admit it's been a while since I read one of these. Last one I read was Watchmen just before the movie came out. Gandalf recommended reading The Legend of Sleepy Hollow... I would have read it, but my nearest Comic books and graphic novels store got hit by the recession and shut down - and now I am left wondering where to go as Free comic Book day approaches.&nbsp;Stephen King - do I even need to elaborate. Last Stephen King book I read was, The Girl who loved Tom Gordon. I actually have a Stephen King book on my to read pile. Duma key I think it's called. I will definitely be getting to that soon. Although, as much as I love Stephen King, I also hold him responsible for one of my worst phobias... seriously, did you think I was gonna tell you what it was. I did that once, and the result was not funny - well not to me anyway :)&gt;I like Horror fiction and Comedy. I do like Romance Novels but not too syrupy. I do love Jackie Collins - well, what's not to Love about Jackie Collins' writing? I suspect I have plenty of unread J.C's books to keep me happy for months. I'll just have to arrange them in publication date order and work my way through hours of fantastic read. I'm a fan, a huge fan.&nbsp; There are 3 authors in my to read pile that I have never read before. Gifts I received for my birthday in Jan and I have yet to touch. Mike Gayle's My Legendary Girlfriend - I've been told is quite funny so I'm looking forward to that. Adrian Tchaikovsky's Blood of the Mantis books 1,2 &amp; 3 - Cover looks interesting enough, so we'll see I guess. and Liz Jensen's The Rapture. Nothing was said about this book, so I guess it's one those discovery reads. &nbsp;hold on, there is an Author in my to read pile that I've just realised I've never actually 'Read' his works before, but I've watched them. Nick Hornby's Juliet Naked is on my to read pile...&nbsp;But first books on my schedule, purely for scientific research purposes only of course, are Neil Strauss' &nbsp; The Game and Rules of the Game. &nbsp;Just trying to figure out what guys think when they go on the pull so to speak. To be armed is to be prepared - if the contents are accurate, I should be able to tell a player a mile off after reading these. Will let you know the results later I guess.&nbsp; But I do have one Golden rule about books that I read, I never read the blurb in the back ever!&nbsp;I guess that's another bit of me you now know. Until number 4, take care.&nbsp;xxoxxo

Number 6 - Words and letters

I have often wished I knew how to play Chess up to the standard that I play scrabble. I love words. Word games show me up to be the intelligent person I subconsciously conceal from the world - not sure why. There's just something that switches on when I have letters in front of me. And don't get me wrong, I am in no way disregarding the high element of luck that is involved when you pick your tiles, but I am one of those that can play something even on a packed board. But I thought perhaps it was my strategising skills that actually gave me the advantage; only to discover that I am this way with every word game I have encountered. Perhaps I might be fortunate enough to play against you one day... always good to find a new playmate. Thank the stars for Bubba, I think we're actually due a game. But my love for words and letters do not end on a board, I love writing. From poetry that sometimes turn into lyrics, short stories and dramas for the stage or just whatever I feel inspired to write. Sometimes it's mumbo jumbo and makes no sense to anyone else but me, but sometimes, sometimes it makes a really good connection and that is so rewarding. I have recently written my second album and in between writing lyrics, I have been working on something... I guess I should give you a taster really and you can tell me what you think thus far - be brutal I can take it - then again, you'll probably need more than this to form an opinion. Either way reply here or tweet me: icandyrose - maybe I'll give you some more of the story later. I'll skip the Intro and take you straight to the first few sentences - enjoy!: (Undecided as in 1, 10, 50?) Years agoIn a dimly lit room is a huge four-poster bed with a very grey old woman lying in the centre. She is propped up with huge pillows and there are light curtain veils draped over the bed posts. She looks very frail but her eyes look very sharp and alert. There are 12 people in the room standing around her. Amongst them is 5 year old Andorra. The old woman looks from one face to the next and whispers loudly, "My time is almost up!" This announcement creates a lot of mumbling and "don't be silly, you'll outlive us all" type of comments around her. Everyone said something, but not little Andorra. No, she just stared at the old woman oddly. The old woman lifts her hand to signal silence. She repeats what she said more firmly and continues, "None of you know how old I am. I am much older than you may think I am. I am not your great-Aunt!" There are gasps of shock, anticipation and curiosity that fill the room. She lifts her head and stares right at the woman standing next Andorra, "I am your great, great, great grand-mother's Aunt"

Number 7

Romance/Love:I am a hapless Romantic. I believe in Love so much that it inspires almost every aspect of my life - which you must have noticed from the lyrics that I write and my songs. I believe in Destiny, Kismet, Fate, Kissing a few frogs to find the right frog that happens to be your prince and that ONE life-changing, mind blowing, give it all up for just a moment with you - kind of love. I believe that in a lifetime, you can experience falling in love quite a few times. At times the lines may get blurred when you are crazy in lust but think you are in love - but sooner or later, this becomes clear. There are probably a few like me out there, I am not big on PDA's (Public Displays of Affection), however I do find that just holding hands says a lot more about a couple's relationship than showing off your tongue duelling skills in public. There's nothing wrong with a passionate relationship, but if you feel the need to show it to the world like that, all we see is "I'm really insecure about my relationship..." Maybe it's just me that sees it that way, but what the hey, it's my blog and my opinion. But back to Romance, everyone has their own idea of what Romance is. I know I certainly have mine and it doesn't necessarily conform to the masses, but it's mine none the less. But the thing here is, I have been loved and I have loved and I still love... and it's beautiful. You should try it. xxoxxo

You should try it.

xxoxxo

Number 8 of 10 things you don't know about me:

Movies: "When I die, please bury me in a Cinema if they'll let you" CRILoveMovies! As my good friend, let's call him "Hardware" would say, "You'll watch anything"... unfortunately - or should that be fortunately? - this is true. I guess it depends on how long the movie... i.e the sometimes 2 hours (or more? say it isn't so) spent in a dark room that I wish I could go to the kiosk afterwards and say, "Hey you ticket or popcorn dude/dudette, get the Manager Now! And tell her/him to please quickly authorise a refund of those 2 hours of my life; as I have decided I'd rather watch paint dry."But even after all that, I love Movies. Just like my taste in Music is unbiased and I like to explore, I will watch anything within reason. How else will I know if I like something? I actually really enjoy discovering world cinematic gems. I am fortunate enough to live in one of the best cities in the world and with a great variety of people and cultures, it does broaden the mind. It can be pretty inspiring to have a glimpse into other cultures that one might not necessarily have sought to know more about in an otherwise state. And as much I love Hollywood, I have the same if not more passion for Indian Cinema most commonly known as Bollywood. And it doesn't stop there. I love Japanese horror movies. The works of Hideo Nakata, Takashi Shimizu, Kuni Risho being the main crossover to hollywood movies, but when I first saw them in their original Japanese format with subtitles, I was scared and my friends will tell you, I don't scare easy. I was bored with Blair witch project so much so I actually fell asleep - which I NEVER do in the cinema. Japanese Horror, The Ring, was the most unsettling for me... Common, if you haven't seen The Ring, then you have to see it. I must admit I was more scared of the Hollywood version of the girl, the special effects were I think more effective, but as I saw the Japanese one first, I was able to fully appreciate the genius behind the story and the cinematography. The first time she did that thing with the screen, I think I actually got up instinctively and stepped further away from the screen lol.But... the most disturbing movie I have ever seen to date, is a Korean movie. Chan-wook Park's Old Boy remains the most disturbing movie I have ever seen and probably will remain so. It's one those films you just have to see... you know like Christopher Nolan's Memento, it's a must see movie. But unlike Memento's twist, Old Boy has a really twisted messed up plot that messes with your head - but at the same time it's a great movie. And it's after watching scary and/or twisted films, that I am glad that I enjoy Bollywood. For me it's pure escapism. Don't misunderstand me, there are some Indian Cinema movies that are not all fluffy and light, but deal with some pretty serious issues. But a lot of them are just wonderful romantic feel good movies. they're usually quite long - as in EPIC. It took me 2 days to watch Devdas starring Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai - now Mrs Bachchan (it's a weekend movie) and Devdas is like Romeo and Juliet and there are two parts in the movie that always make me cry, and one of my favourite movies of all time, Khabhi Khushi Khabhi Gham - really great movie with a great cast and awesome cinematography, in fact this movie made me an avid fan of the director Karan Johar, and quite a few of the cast, with SRK being one of them obviously.... let's just say I have a love for the movies. The latest thing at the cinema that I have been absolutely enjoying, is the bringing to life of Superheroes from comic books straight onto the big screen. The knowledge that just a decade ago, quite a few of the amazing special effects we enjoy on the big screen today did not exist is quite... something (Endless thanks to the Geeks and Science people ;0). Avatar... do I really need to say more?X-Men, The Hulk, Spiderman, Batman - finally dark and true to the comics, (Thank you Christian), Ironman - btw Robert Downey jnr and Christian Bale, if you ever read this, I think you guys are wonderful awesome. I am so looking forward to seeing Ironman 2. And there's also the games that become movies, can't wait to see what Jake does with Prince of Persia. I'm sure it'll be great. I've just realised I could really go on. But I guess this is one more piece of the puzzle, that I may be to you, solved. I love movies. Cohen brothers, Tarantino, Cameron and so many great talented people out there. Not sure if it matters or not, but Thank you movie guys for what you do... and thank you, whoever you are for reading my blog. xxoxxo

Beauty or the Geek?Give me a beautiful Geek. I love intelligent people. And if they happen to talk like Stephen Fry, what more could a girl want. Those people that understand Mathematics at a level that's beyond my comprehension, speak C++ and algorithms is something they have for breakfast, and can talk about the philosophy of life and yet know what happened in the last episode of Heroes... Yeah, those people - you know who you are. :)It would seem it takes much more than a beautiful package to keep my attention.... not that I don't greatly appreciate beautiful packages...Btw, feel free to ask me questions at any point... it might take a while but I will try to reply Candyxxoxxo

10 Things you did not know about me....

Happy New Year Everyone. So having decided to dabble in blogging, I find it's harder than I thought, especially thinking of what to write/share. Well, I thought perhaps I'd share a little bit more trivia about myself that may not be public knowledge. So come back every day over the next few weeks or months for some possibly mundane; trivia. I have to go think of 10 things now :) xxoxxo5th January, 2010So I've been thinking of the 10 things I should share with you that you possibly did not know about me. So, here goes today's 1 thing... maybe I should count them down:10) I'm short-sighted: For the better part of my childhood, I squinted my way through life. Having witnessed first hand some of the ribbing the kids who wore glasses got, I determined that abject denial was the way to go. So I squinted until my eyes started to look like slits until I was about 16. Had to go to the opticians' due to an eye infection and he was astounded at how I'd managed without glasses, and having not been hit by a bus yet. Apparently I have an unusual astigmatism which radically changed the shape of one of my pupil's.... the part of the eye which focuses the image on the retina. I knew I was way overdue getting my eyes checked out, but it took me a long time to shake off the impending dreadfulness of being called four eyes.... especially as I had this idea that wearing glasses would somehow change my image to looking like Jerry Lewis from the Nutty Professor.... those glasses... *sigh*Let me elaborate how bad it was. Prior to getting my eyes checked out, I viewed the world like a broken TV. You know when the channel isn't quite clear and the person on the screen is a person and a half. Like this ) ), and sometimes, if it was cold, the image would be a blurry person and a half. I used to get a lot of headaches. That all stopped once I got glasses. And my eyesight started to improve and the strength of my prescribed lenses has continued to improve much to my optician's amazement. I started off at -3.75 and I am now on -2.50... this probably makes no sense to you if you don't wear glasses, but to those who do, you will know that this is pretty cool. My advise, get your eyes checked every 1 or 2 years regardless of whether you wear glasses or not. P.SI now wear contacts :) xxoxxo

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GgcVxYPV4OI/SzkuofzVGNI/AAAAAAAAAAM/NjkNnS1vTHs/s1600-h/Candy+Rose+So+you+know5.jpg">Candy Rose! I guess it's about time I introduced myself. 2009 has been a very significant year in my life as I finally decided to pursue my dreams and try to make a living doing what I enjoy most in the world. Writing Music and singing. Being an independent artist, this meant saving for a considerable amount of time (let's say about 5 years) in what was my 9-5 - when I had a 9-5 that is; as there is no Label backing or Simon Cowell type guy, in the background. This year I realised one of my dreams and released my first ever single, So You Know on the 10th of August 2009. It is available from all major digital retailers. On the 18th of September I released my second single, You are Everything and on the 28th of September my debut album,A Rollercoaster Love was released and only just a week ago, on the 21st of December 2009, the remix EP accompaniment to the album, Meet you In The Club was released. Though it has been a very busy year it has also been an expensive endeavour. But you know what, this is just the beginning... I am encouraged by the response I have thus far received for my music, considering I am a nobody - and not just a nobody, I am an artist that is camera shy and very hesitant in putting myself out there. I have no problem with putting all the focus on my music as that is how I would prefer it... for now. I do not think I am ready for a "famous" life if it involves a thorough invasion of my loved one's privacy. But one day, we all might be ready for all of that.In the mean time, hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and wish you all a fantastic 2010. xxoxxoP.SDo buy the music :)
